Kentucky’s senior defensive lineman Calvin Taylor is tied for the most sacks in the SEC this season. And alongside Lynn Bowden, he is tied for leading the Wildcats in trash talk against the Louisville Cardinals.
In addition to adding to the “red team” chatter and refusing to say the name of Kentucky’s opponent this weekend, Taylor is going as far now as guaranteeing a victory for the Wildcats. He told KSR’s Nick Roush that Kentucky “will win” just as matter-of-factly as saying it is raining outside, and there was no doubt in his eyes when he said it.

This comment is in a long line of trash talk toward Louisville. Lynn Bowden kicked off the 2019 campaign directly after the UT-Martin game, saying Louisville is a “name we don’t say around here.”
But perhaps the most famous video circling Twitter is Steven Johnson’s 2017 lip reading of “I love this ——” before throwing a touchdown pass on Kentucky’s first possession.

Taylor has 7.5 sacks on the season, tying him with Alabama’s Anfernee Jennings and Auburn’s Marlon Davidson. That is some pretty solid company. If he is able to stay in the lead, this will be the second consecutive season that the Kentucky Wildcats have had the SEC sacks leader.
Josh Allen had an astounding 17 last season. How many of you would have thought that was possible five years ago?
Taylor is a great example of player development within the Kentucky program, and if his words prove to be prophetic he may be remembered in UK lore for his simple words, “we will win.”
