The Kentucky Wildcats get a Sunday night victory over the Lamar Cardinals, 81-56, to improve to 5-1 on the season.
It was Kentucky’s best overall performance since the Michigan State game to open the season, and that is in large part due to the great shooting performance by the Wildcats. Kentucky hit 10 threes on the night, including hitting seven in the first half.
Nick Richards, again, had a fantastic game putting up 10 points, 13 rebounds, and an astounding seven blocks.
Tyrese Maxey also led the way for the Cats with 21 points on the night. Maxey also added five boards and three assists.
It was a nice game for the Wildcats and could be a nice confidence boost game for future games.
Kentucky is in action next Friday against UAB at home.

Tyrese Maxey’s threes are a lot more fun if you don’t expect any of them to go in…which is what it always looks like when he shoots.

Tyrese Maxey seems to have found his 3 point stroke again. pic.twitter.com/h12C0T8wAf

Nick Richards is on the double-double diet just in time for the holiday season.

At Champions Classic, I asked @SethOnHoops whether Nick Richards could re-find his Bahamas form from before his soph. year. Greenberg said yes.
— Kevin Flaherty (@KFlaherty247) November 25, 2019
Through six games this year, Richards has been that guy. Averaging 14 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game and impacting on D.

Nate Sestina told me on UK media day that Nick Richards is "always working hard" in the gym.

I wouldn't doubt that for a single minute. He looks so, so strong right now.
In his first 75 career games, Nick Richards recorded one double-double. He now has double-doubles in 3 of his last 5 games. Added a career-high 7 blocks tonight.

Also, Nick Richards is leading UK with 32 minutes tonight. An entirely different player so far this season. https://t.co/EFJogRQImQ

This is incredible. Maxey is wet. Nick is making every player look like they’re in 6th grade rec league. We aren’t turning the ball over 40 times. Can life get much better now?

Number 12 is not great at business decisions. This version of Nick Richards is fun. pic.twitter.com/G4nxcU0IbF

Welp. Ashton Hagans now 3 of 4 from three. Kentucky 10 of 21 beyond the arc tonight. That'll do.
— Kyle Tucker (@KyleTucker_ATH) November 25, 2019
What a great half for Ashton Hagans, tallying 7 points and 7 assists with only 2 turnovers.

EJ Montgomery tells UK Radio's Mike Pratt 'that I feel good about where I am (after missing time with ankle injury). I missed a lot of time, so I've just got to get back in rhythm.'
— Mark Story (@markcstory) November 25, 2019
I know EJ makes you want to rip your hair out, but I'm gonna keep saying it. If one or two things start to click for him, he can go from frustrating to a monster pretty quickly.
— Justin Rowland (@RowlandRIVALS) November 24, 2019
Many (myself included) were critical of Kentucky following the Evansville/Utah Valley games. Turns out it's hard to beat anyone when you're really banged up. Kentucky has been healthy the last two games and kicked the crap out of two opponents. So yeah, many overreacted. My bad.
— Aaron Torres (@Aaron_Torres) November 25, 2019
Calipari on Maxey: "He's getting better. But again, we need to PRACTICE. Kahlil needs to practice so we can coach him (still not comfortable). Keion the same. We gotta get Nate back to being comfortable ... not trying to live up to something, which changes how you play."
— Kyle Tucker (@KyleTucker_ATH) November 25, 2019
Kentucky’s 10 three-pointers were a season-high and the most since making 11 against Auburn on Feb. 23 of last season.
— TheCatsPause247 (@TheCatsPause247) November 25, 2019
Make that final Kentucky score 81-56. There was a late correction on score going from 80-56 to 81-56.

These were some of the closing Vegas lines at tip-off. Sometimes, you win and sometimes you lose and sometimes you tie and there’s a push. Just don’t bet. pic.twitter.com/kIniZoKIpl
