It’s hard to believe that the 2019 football season will see it’s last game played on Saturday afternoon at Kroger Field.
The Louisville Cardinals come to town for a rare noon kickoff that will mark the final regular season game of the season for both teams. The game can be seen on the SEC network.
Even though this an ever important rivalry game, Mark Stoops’ team has taken away quite of bit of pressure by dominating UT-Martin for their sixth win of the year. Now that UK is bowl eligible, beating the Cards would be some really sweet icing on the cake in what has been an up and down season overall.
You can be nothing but happy with how Kentucky has played in their last two games. The Cats have just completely obliterated the opposition on the ground. Lead by Lynn Bowden and AJ Rose, Kentucky will be coming off the program’s single game rushing record after tallying a ridiculous 462 yards against UT-Martin.
When you consider what they did the week prior in Nashville, it gives Kentucky an average of 431 yards on the ground in their last two games. That’ll work.
More good news, Louisville has proven that they just can’t stop anyone. The Cards are allowing nearly 32 points per game. They have allowed a team to score 34 points or more in seven of their eleven games this season. With the way that UK’s defense has been playing, you have to like Kentucky’s chances assuming they can score at will against the Cards like most of their opponents have done.
That being said, this isn’t the same Louisville program that Kentucky slaughtered 56-10 on their home field last season. In his first year as Head Coach, Scott Satterfield has done some rather amazing things with a team that was a complete train wreck when he took over.
The Cards have some play-makers on offense and can put points on the board in a hurry when things are clicking. Javian Hawkins has rushed for 1352 yards and seven touchdowns this season. Keeping him in check will be a key to Kentucky’s game plan on defense.
In a rivalry game that can get as heated as this one it can be difficult to make projections on how the game will go. Emotions are sure to be flowing when the ball is kicked off and keeping composure is always a challenge when these two teams meet.
