Kentucky Wildcats football head coach Mark Stoops met with Florida State Seminoles officials in Cincinnati last week, per Noles247’s Josh Newberg.
Florida State did not offer the job to Stoops, and a week after the interview took place, Stoops called said officials to remove himself as a candidate for the Seminoles’ head coaching vacancy.
According to Warchant.com, Florida State is asking boosters to donate some serious amounts of money so they can land the biggest name coach possible, which is probably one reason why they did not offer Stoops the job, and also probably why he removed himself as a candidate.
Kentucky Sports Radio confirmed the news, and also reported that Stoops’ assistants spent “extensive time” talking to players from Kentucky’s 2020 recruiting class and informing them that the staff would remain intact and that Stoops was not going anywhere.
After weeks and weeks of Stoops to Florida State rumors, we can officially eliminate any worry that we had of Stoops heading down to Tallahassee.
