3 Wildcats among ESPN’s top 100 NBA prospects

Tyrese Maxey leads the way.

The college basketball season is underway, which means we will get a better idea of who is NBA Draft ready based on their performance on the floor.

After a couple weeks of the season, ESPN has now updated their top 100 prospects for the 2020 draft. The update saw three Kentucky Wildcats mentioned in the top 60.

Tyrese Maxey was the first name on the list at No. 8 after he put the country on notice with his performance on the big stage against Michigan State.

Kahlil Whitney finds himself just outside the lottery at No. 17. It hasn’t been a great start for Whitney as he is till adjusting to the college game. However, I fully expect him to rise as the season progresses.

Ashton Hagans is the final Kentucky player on the list at No. 59 which is next to the last pick in the draft.

Hagans has been battling an injury so far this season but if his last performance is any indication of what a healthy Hagans can be then he will certainly rise in the draft boards.

One name left off the list that I think everyone assumed would have a big year was EJ Montgomery.

Due to an injury that he suffered in the first game of the season; he has only seen 14 minutes of action. However, he should be returning to action soon and will have an opportunity to improve his draft stock.

Once this team gets healthy and adjusted to the college game, I believe that we will start to see these players rise in the rankings and more players join them in the top 100.
