By Saturday night, the Kentucky Wildcats should be bowl eligible for the fourth straight season.
This year’s team has a lot of youth, so the future of Kentucky’s roster looks bright. And when you hear Mark Stoops talk about the 2020 recruiting class, you cannot help but to think he is going to continue to raise the bar for this program.
That bar may be raised a little more on December 17th, that is if 4-star corner back Joel Williams announces his commitment to the Wildcats. Kentucky is one of six teams remaining in contention for Williams’ services, joining a few teams you may have heard of: LSU, Auburn, Georgia, Florida, and Alabama.

Williams is the No. 12 ATH in the 2020 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. This summer, all of the buzz in his recruitment pointed toward a commitment to the Crimson Tide. When Kevin Joseph announced his transfer to Kentucky in August, however, that all started to change. Williams, a Louisiana native, took notice of Joseph’s commitment and started publicly showing more interest in Kentucky.
Since August, Kentucky has taken the lead in crystal ball predictions for Williams. The Wildcats now have 44% of those predictions, many of which come from insiders covering other schools on Williams’ list.
Williams’ formal announcement will come on December 17th, and Kentucky seems to be in a great spot to land him. If he does commit to the Wildcats and they pick up a few more top tier guys this spring, Mark Stoops may be looking at his first top 15 class as Kentucky’s head coach, which may be the best in school history.
