Torrance Davis to graduate early, enroll at UK for spring football

Always great to get incoming players on campus early.

Torrance Davis is a running back ranked as high as the No. 25 back in the 2020 recruiting class.

The three-star Ohio native committed to playing for the Kentucky Wildcats this summer, choosing the Cats over Michigan State, Cincinnati, and Indiana.

Davis is a talented player that has the potential to make an impact as soon as he arrives on campus. And as of Wednesday, it seems that he will be coming to Lexington sooner than expected.

“I will be graduating early in December and I will be heading to Kentucky in January,” Davis told 247Sports.

Whenever recruits are able to come early for spring practice, it makes a huge difference in their development and their ability to adjust to the speed of college football. It also gives them a huge head start in learning the on-field philosophy that will be in place the coming fall.

“I’m looking forward to getting to college and playing spring football,” Davis said. “I have been dreaming of this since I was five-years-old and I’m 100% ready to get my college career started. I know it will be an adjustment but the coaches are telling me I have a good shot at playing next season as a freshman.”

In theory, Davis will be coming in and competing for snaps with AJ Rose, Kavosiey Smoke, and Chris Rodriguez. In reality, there is always the chance that one of those three guys will choose to enter the transfer portal.

Obviously the coaching staff in Lexington is excited about Davis’ arrival. And I am sure that all of Big Blue Nation will be excited to get a glimpse of him playing in the spring instead of waiting ‘til August.
