The Kentucky Wildcats’ 2019-20 season is off to a stellar start, as they’re now the No. 1 team in the nation entering the second week of the season.
Last week, the Wildcats defeated top-ranked Michigan State at the Champions Classic, then crushed Eastern Kentucky at Rupp Arena to start the season 2-0.
This week, they will play just one game, which comes Tuesday night against the Evansville Purple Aces of the Missouri Valley Conference.
Evansville comes to Lexington 1-0 after defeating Ball State in their home opener. The Purple Aces are coached by former Wildcat Walter McCarty, who played for the Wildcats from 1993-1996 and helped Kentucky win the national championship in 1996.
One freshman on the Purple Aces roster that has ties to UK is freshman Thomasi Gilgeous-Alexander, who is the brother of former Kentucky point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
