The annual hardwood battle between UK and Louisville is still over two months away, but the Cats already have a big visitor lined up for one of the best rivalry games in college hoops.

According to Jake Weingarten, UK will host five-star forward Brandon Huntley-Hatfield that day. UK previously visited Huntley-Hatfield and high school teammate Jarace Walker in September.

Huntley-Hatfield is a 6-8 forward from IMG Academy (FL) who is the No. 9 overall player in 2022 by 247 Sports. He holds offers from Auburn, Baylor, Ole Miss, Seton Hall, and Wake Forest among others.

Because the Class of 2022 is expected to be the one that’s able to go straight from high school to the NBA, it will be one of, if not the most challenging class for John Calipari to recruit since he’s been in Lexington.

Based on his early recruiting ranking, Huntley-Hatfield certainly seems like a straight-to-the-pros candidate, though Calipari will obviously continue to recruit the nation’s top high school talent until he feels that the NBA is the likely destination for said recruits.

Another interesting caveat to watch for is the potential for college players to be getting compensated (legally) for their image and likeness by the time the 2022-23 season arrives, which will make it far easier for colleges to convince elite recruits to skip the NBA for at least one season.

Either way, Huntley-Hatfield looks like a great prospect who UK is building an early relationship with.
