Anthony Davis wasted no time showcasing why he is one of the top players in the NBA and how dangerous he and LeBron James will be in Los Angeles.
Davis suited up for his new team, the Los Angeles Lakers, in preseason action last night as the Lakers took on the Golden State Warriors. Davis quickly went to work, putting together a 17 point, 7 rebound performance with 5 dunks in the first quarter and finished the game with 22 points and 10 rebounds while only playing one half of the game.
Obviously this is preseason action, but the Lakers figure to be in the hunt for a championship in the Western Conference with the Warriors looking as vulnerable as they have during their recent string of success. Los Angeles, led by the duo of LeBron and AD, figure to be right in the thick of the race, and this will be the first year that Davis has a legitimate possibility of making a playoff run.
It’s exciting to see the former Kentucky big man back on the court and having success for what should be a contender. Hopefully he keeps it up throughout the year and is able to stay healthy. If so, Davis may also find himself in the hunt for the league MVP award.
