Saturday Quickies: Devin Askew visit Edition

New, comments

The five star point guard is in town for a visit and Cal is looking to wrap things up.

Mercifully there’s not a football game today Big Blue Nation. The Football Cats are on their bye and hopefully getting healthy. Therefore we shall shift our focus to the basketball side of things, particularly the recruiting aspect.

The 2020 class is off to a damn good start but John Calipari doesn’t have his point guard yet. That may not be the case in the coming days because 2021 stud Devin Askew is on bis visit this weekend and Kentucky Wildcats commit Lance Ware is as well.

John Calipari will get the last shot at Askew as he has already been to Louisville, Memphis, and Arizona. Analysts are starting to swing their picks to Kentucky.

The biggest question, other than if Askew will be a Wildcat, is if he will reclassify to 2021.

Askew, who turns 18 years old in July, has said he plans to remain in that 2021 class, but he’s been open to reclassification in the past and the thinking in recruiting circles is that he will ultimately make that move to 2020 if the right situation presents itself.

Kentucky is going to lose Ashton Hagans and Tyrese Maxey next year. I think there will be room for Askew to start next season.

He decides later this month.

Tweets of the Day

I don’t think the competitors have anything close to what he will see in Lexington.

Watching college football without a growing sense of anxiety will be a welcome change.

This is as bad as Penny’s coaching ability.

EJ Montgomery focusing on physicality | Cats Pause- John Calipari stated that he hopes playing with PJ Washington and Reid Travis last season has helped in increasing the physical play of EJ Montgomery and Nick Richards.

UK volleyball moves to 3-0 in SEC play | UK Athletics- Leah Edmond had 14 kills as the Cats sweep the Gamecocks.

John Calipari is making his players ‘uncomfortable’ | Vaughts Views- Calipari is coaching them based off of their potential and not how they’re playing right now. And read what he says about Maxey and Hagans. Ooooo Weeeeee....

Five reasons Auburn will beat Florida | Saturdays Down South-I think there are more than five reasons that Auburn will beat Florida. This will be only the second real challenge the Gators have faced this season. And Kentucky had them beat until the coaching staff peed down their leg in the fourth quarter. I’m still pissed.

Kansas apologizes from Snoop Dogg’s show | ESPN- Kansas basketball is in a complete tailspin right now and this just adds to the fun. Of course Snoop Dogg is going to have strippers, curse, and smoke weed. That’s what he does. What in the hell was Kansas thinking?

MLB Playoffs winners and losers | CBS- Astros, Yankees, Braves, and Nationals all got the W yesterday. How did they do it?
