Lance Ware visiting UK alongside Devin Askew

This should only help UK’s recruitment of the top-10 recruit.

A big recruiting weekend is coming up for UK.

The big visitor is five-star point guard Devin Askew, who begins his trip to Lexington this weekend following a visit to Memphis today. The Mater Dei (CA) product has surged up UK’s recruiting big board, as the top-10 recruit could reclassify and become the Cats’ point guard for this class.

But Askew won’t be visiting alone, as he’ll be joined by current commitment Lance Ware, who is also taking an official visit, according to Prep Circuit reporter Pat Lawless.

Normally, it’s not a great idea to have to recruits taking official visits at the same time, but in this case, it’s a great move for UK. Ware is already committed, so he’ll essentially be a recruiter for Askew this weekend while also getting the wine and dine treatment of his first official visit to UK. Ware has previously taken unofficial visits to Lexington.

Having a potential future teammate like Ware on campus when a guy like Askew is visiting will hopefully help UK’s case. Even if Askew ends up staying in 2021, Ware will likely still be around for the 2021-22 season, so it’s a win-win either way.

UK is in a very tight battle with Louisville for Askew, so it’s good to see UK is going all-out to seal the deal this weekend. He is expected to make his college decision in the coming weeks.
