The Kentucky Wildcats have issued out their first scholarship offer to a Class of 2022 recruit.
According to Jake Weingarten, Kentucky has offered Brandon Huntley-Hatfield.
Kentucky has offered Top-10 sophomore Brandon Huntley-Hatfield, a source told @Stockrisers, confirmed by his mother. John Calipari saw him last Monday and left impressed. Visits unofficially in December.— Jake (@jakeweingarten) October 29, 2019
As Weingarten alluded to, Huntley-Hatfield previously scheduled an unofficial visit for late December when Kentucky faces Louisville at Rupp Arena.
Huntley-Hatfield, a 6-8 forward from IMG Academy (FL), is the No. 6 overall player in 2022 by 247 Sports after reclassifying from the Class of 2021 earlier in the year. He also holds offers from Auburn, Baylor, Ole Miss, Seton Hall, and Wake Forest among others.
The talented big man also has a connection to UK, as he is a cousin of Alex Poythress. Huntley-Hatfield has also called Kentucky his dream school previously, and it’s now clear there’s major interest from both sides.
Seeing as how John Calipari very rarely offers scholarships to recruits who are three classes away from being on a college campus, I would guess there’s a decent chance Huntley-Hatfield eventually moves back into 2021.
Corey Evans of Rivals.com recently interviewed Huntley-Hatfield, who admitted he could eventually move back into the 2021 class.
“I feel like I need to get a little bit better, but whenever the time is right, I will go back to 2021. I feel like the move (into 2022) has been better for me.”
