The Kentucky Wildcats get an exhibition game victory over next door neighbor Georgetown College, 80-53.
It was the usual exhibition game for Kentucky, with Cal trying different lineups, players knocking some rust off, and the new guys getting used to the feeling of playing in Rupp.
Tyrese Maxey and Immanuel Quickley led the way in scoring for the Cats with 14 points fort Maxey and 16 for IQ. Quickley also opened up the early stages of the first half with three 3 pointers. He looks like a legit threat from three-point land this season.
Nick Richards did sustain an ankle injury within the first minute of the second-half, and it sounds like we won’t know the full extent of the injury until tomorrow at the earliest.
Here’s what social media had to say:

Feels really good to have Kentucky basketball back on my TV. pic.twitter.com/dMJ7ei2cOt— Cameron Newton (@morrisoncrying) October 27, 2019
Ashton Hagans is Kentucky’s best player. His Defense is lock down and his Offense has improved— Matt Jones (@KySportsRadio) October 27, 2019
Kid was right when he said it’s his team
If Kentucky has to go small, it certainly can. Maxey drains a three and the Cats are 8 of 18 from deep tonight. Six different guys have made at least one.— Kyle Tucker (@KyleTucker_ATH) October 27, 2019
Also, Keion Brooks is really damn good, quietly.
Kahlil Whitney looks to be an athlete trying to play basketball.— Travis Graf (@Trav_Graf) October 27, 2019
Whitney cannot just blend in. He’s got to be a dog mentality guy every second he’s on the floor. Special athlete but gotta bring it— Jimmy Dykes (@CoachJimmyDykes) October 28, 2019
I like Keion Brooks a lot...smart player, in the right spot and moves well for a dude that isn’t crazy athletic— Matt Jones (@KySportsRadio) October 27, 2019
Going to be good here
If you wanted a reason to worry in the middle of what is shaping up to be a very comfortable exhibition victory for UK: Nick Richards has rolled his ankle and vanished into the locker room and EJ Montgomery is 1 of 6 with 3 points. That's the whole list of Cats taller than 6-9.— Kyle Tucker (@KyleTucker_ATH) October 27, 2019
CATS have to get production out of Montgomery. Is he better than last year ? Quickley Maxey and Hagans could become dynamic together. Trust me... Sestina is a huge key— Jimmy Dykes (@CoachJimmyDykes) October 27, 2019
By my count, Kentucky has missed 147 shots inside 4 feet— Matt Jones (@KySportsRadio) October 27, 2019
Double rejection by Brooks and Whitney leads to the Tyrese Maxey and-1 bucket. pic.twitter.com/VPMfvGuuQ5— Scott Charlton (@Scott_Charlton) October 27, 2019
The over/under look that UK ran so much last year. The Iverson cut over the foul line screeners, ball reversal, pin down action on the opposite side to Immanuel Quickley for the jumper. Kentucky now 9-for-21 as a team from the (longer) three-point line. Six different Cats have hit threes tonight.— Ben Roberts (@BenRobertsHL) October 27, 2019
UK will be a hard team to zone. Too long and will play over the top of it. Too many good shooters at all 5 spots if needed— Jimmy Dykes (@CoachJimmyDykes) October 27, 2019
John Calipari said during the postgame press conference today that Nick Richards' ankle is swollen pretty bad after rolling it in the exhibition game. His status is uncertain at this time, but an already thin frontcourt could be thinner.— Jeff Drummond (@JDrumUK) October 27, 2019

Is baseball walk-on Ben Jordan viable to give UK any minutes while Nick is out? "He's been great in practice," Calipari said. "But I'm not sure I'd put him in that position at this point."— Kyle Tucker (@KyleTucker_ATH) October 27, 2019
Confident that Hagans' leadership will rite the ship, many times this year, when things get shaky— . (@LilJoeBHall) October 27, 2019
