As always, gamble responsibly, but this isn’t great value for a young Kentucky team. Despite the Cats being ranked No. 2 in the country, Florida is right on their heels at No. 6. And don’t count out Will Wade, Bruce Pearl, or, especially, Rick Barnes.
Florida has the more experienced team, coupled with a loaded freshmen class, so it’s a bit surprising to me that they weren’t possibly the favorites. And with 14 teams in the conference, +250 is pretty high. However, we all know the way John Calipari teams develop over the course of a season.
Outside of the top 3-5 teams, though, it doesn’t look like there will be much competition this year. But one team that is surprising low is the Georgia Bulldogs. I don’t expect too much from the Dogs this season, but they do have one of the best players in the entire country in Anthony Edwards. They sit at +2200, which is good for 9th best odds.
It’s always fun to see the differences between the betting odds and the media polls, but it seems it’s pretty consistent here.
