PJ Washington wasted no time making headlines in his NBA debut.
Washington, the former Wildcat and first-round pick for the Charlotte Hornets, hit his first three-pointer and then continued on to hit 7-11 three pointers en route to a 27-point performance, tying an NBA record for the most threes ever made in an NBA debut.
Washington displayed a vastly improved jumper as a sophomore at Kentucky last year, which helped improve his draft stock from a fringe first rounder/likely second rounder to a lottery pick, and it seems Washington is continuing to improve his jump shot.
Washington led the Hornets in points and minutes, leading his squad to a thrilling 126-125 victory over the Chicago Bulls in the Hornets season opener.
Washington’s performance was also part of an incredible shooting night for Charlotte, in which they knocked down 23-44 threes on the night.
And if PJ can keep this up, he’s going to be among the best rookies in the league. Way to make us proud, PJ!
