Tyler Herro is becoming the trendy pick to win NBA Rookie of the Year.
Ever since joining the Miami Heat as a lottery pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, Herro has been scorching hot on the court, whether it be the NBA Summer League or preseason. Even though he has yet to play in a game that counts, he’s already flashing tremendous potential and could soon become the latest NBA star that played college ball in Lexington.
Ahead of the new season, Pro Basketball Hall of Famers Charles Barkley and Tracy McGrady both picked Herro to win NBA Rookie of the Year. Herro also earned praise from fellow Hall of Famers Shaquille O’Neal and Reggie Miller.

Over four preseason games, Herro averaged 15.8 points, five rebounds and 2.5 assists while shooting 47.9% from the floor, including 12/23 made three-balls (52.2%).
With presumed ROY candidate Zion Williamson for the next two months, the race for this award is wide open, and Herro has seemingly already locked up a significant role with a Heat team that figures to be in the Eastern Conference playoff mix.
