Chet Holmgren is the No. 4 ranked player in the class of 2021 and has been turning heads on the high school AAU circuit over the summer.
However, according to Kentucky.com, Holmgren has yet to hear anything from The Kentucky Wildcats coaching staff.
Holmgren did say that some of his coaches might have had some contact with the Kentucky coaching staff, and Holmgren did speak very highly of the Wildcats.
“They’ve almost had two undefeated years in a decade, which nobody does in college,” Holmgren said. “They’re just great at what they do. How they funnel guys into the NBA, how they prepare people for the NBA and just make them overall professionals.”
The 6-11 forward out of Minneapolis is a top-five ranked player, but Holmgren has yet to secure an offer from a blue-blood school, as Minnesota, Texas, Gonzaga, and Purdue are seen as the favorites to land Holmgren.
Minnesota currently has 100% of the crystal ball predictions. Perhaps it’s going to be tough for any school to pull him out of the Gopher State, and John Calipari has been adamant this year that Kentucky is not going to be a hat on the table anymore.
Also, Kentucky may already feel confident in other 2021 frontcourt targets like Paolo Banchero or even 2022 big man Brandon Huntley-Hatfield, who may reclassify into 2021.
Will Kentucky reach out to Holmgren? Only time will tell.
