With the college basketball season approaching fast, we are starting to see preseason rankings start to be released.

Ken Pomeroy released his initial KenPom rankings on Sunday morning and the Kentucky Wildcats clocked in as the #2 team in the country.

The #1 ranked team in the KenPom just happens to be the team that the Cats will face off with on November 5th when the season gets started, the Michigan State Spartans.

When you look at the top 25, the Cats will also face #3 Louisville, #11 Ohio State, #12 Florida, #15 Texas Tech, #19 Tennessee, and #22 Auburn.

This sets up a tough schedule for the Cats in both the non-conference and conference schedule in 2019-20.

The Cats also came in with the highest overall adjusted defensive efficiency and the 8th highest adjusted offensive efficiency.

Here is where the rest of the SEC was ranked:

  • LSU- #38
  • Missouri- #39
  • Arkansas- #44
  • Mississippi State- #53
  • Georgia- #55
  • Texas A&M- #58
  • Ole Miss- #60
  • South Carolina- #69
  • Alabama- #70
  • Vanderbilt- #148

You can see the full KenPom rankings here.

Do you agree with where the Cats stand in the initial rankings?
