Could Kentucky land a major point guard commitment today?
They seem to be in solid position for Devin Askew, the 6’3” guard out of California that is ranked 10th overall in the Class of 2021 by 247 Sports and the No. 1 point guard.
Askew has long been a Kentucky target for either the 2020 or 2021 class, but it seems like we will only find out today where Askew will be playing college basketball, with a reclassification decision coming in the spring.
Askew has been a highly-touted prospect and Kentucky seems to have a lot of momentum going into decision day, but we certainly can’t count out Louisville, who has been recruiting Askew for more than a year and once were considered the leader.
With Askew in the fold, Kentucky’s backcourt is shaping up to be one of the best under John Calipari. Askew would join Terrence Clarke and BJ Boston, creating a trio that can put up points in a hurry.
Let’s not forget that Kentucky is continuing to heavily pursue Cade Cunningham too, setting up the potential for an all-time great class if Askew picks Kentucky and does reclassify.
If not, Kentucky has a great foundation to build their 2021 class with the top point guard already in the fold.
In either class, Askew would be a major addition for Kentucky. He makes his decision on Sportscenter tonight at 11 p.m. ET. Let’s hope the Wildcats are the choice.
