Wednesday Quickies: SEC Basketball Media Days Edition

There are a lot of storylines going into Media Days.

NCAA Basketball: SEC Basketball Tipoff Vasha Hunt-USA TODAY Sports

Today is SEC Media Day, as coaches and players will take to the microphone to answer questions and preview the upcoming season.

I wouldn’t expect it to be heavily dominated by Kentucky storylines, but there should still be some interesting content to come from the day. John Calipari always has the potential to drop some newsworthy quotes when he gets in front of reporters, and Ashton Hagans and EJ Montgomery will join Cal for the event.

Outside of Kentucky, we’ll be introduced to four new coaches in the league: Jerry Stackhouse (Vanderbilt), Nate Oats (Alabama), Eric Musselman (Arkansas) and Buzz Williams at Texas A&M. Here is a full list of the coaches and players attending.

One school that doesn’t have a new coach is LSU, who still has Will Wade despite an NCAA investigation and a lot of information that came out during the FBI investigations. We should probably expect Wade and Auburn coach Bruce Pearl to be asked questions about the NCAA investigations.

And the popular subject around college basketball right now is the Fair Pay to Play Act. It will be interesting to see where the league’s coaches stand on it and Calipari is almost certain to talk about how he has been bringing this up longer than anyone.

It should be a fun time, so stay tuned here and we’ll bring you updates throughout the day!
