Well, so much for that.
On Monday, five-star forward Scottie Barnes announced his commitment to the Florida State Seminoles. He was also considering the Kentucky Wildcats, Oregon Ducks and Miami Hurricanes.
I am proud to be announcing that next year I will be playing for Coach Hamilton and his staff at Florida State University. To all the coaches, mentors, teachers, and family members that have molded and helped me to get to this point in my journey thank you! pic.twitter.com/rMQDwXLNZf

A 6-8 forward out of Florida, Barnes was the first 2020 recruit to receive a scholarship offer from UK. He is ranked No. 9 overall by 247 Sports composite and held additional offers from LSU, Florida, Kansas, Ohio State and Syracuse among others.
Barnes actually canceled his visit to Miami this past weekend and was planning to officially visit UK this coming weekend, but something must have happened that caused him to go ahead and pick the Noles.
With UK surging into the recruitment of Cade Cunningham, who plays at Montverde Academy alongside Barnes, it looked like the Wildcats were also making a major push with Barnes.
Alas, Barnes is now off the board for Coach Cal and his staff.
