Coach Cal and his staff are working hard on the recruiting trail, and they have now been in contact with one of the top 2022 recruits.
Brandon Huntley-Hatfield is the #9 player in the class and the #2 overall power forward out of IMG Academy. He holds offers from Auburn, Baylor, Ole Miss, Seton Hall, and Wake Forest among others.
Corey Evans of Rivals.com caught up with Huntley for a Q&A. One of the questions he asked had to do with Kentucky and what they had told him so far.
“They feel like I can be a really good player in the future if I keep working hard and the sky is the limit for me. I feel like I would want to be a part of that and growing up, that has been my dream school.”
Huntley is someone that took the reclassifying route, but in his case, he moved from 2021 to 2022.
Evans asked Huntley-Hatfield about potentially making the move back to 2021.
“I feel like I need to get a little bit better but whenever the time is right, I will go back to 2021. I feel like the move (into 2022) has been better for me.”
If Huntley-Hatfield were to stay in 2022, he could be part of the first recruiting class that will be eligible to go straight from high school to the NBA.
As of now, Huntley-Hatfield is planning to visit Kentucky for the Louisville game in December.
Whether he stays in 2022 or makes the move back to 2021, Huntley will be a sought-after recruit and Kentucky is already getting their foot in the door.
