John Calipari’s State of the Program speech

“We built this program to serve our players, to help them reach their dreams.”

NCAA Basketball: Kentucky Blue Madness Mark Zerof-USA TODAY Sports

The 2019 edition of Big Blue Madness is in the books, which means the 2019-20 college basketball season is upon us.

We got to see the men’s and women’s teams in action in front of a packed Rupp Arena crowd, while this also served as a big recruiting weekend with several big-time prospects in town.

And as usual, head coach John Calipari gave an impassioned State of the Program speech that Big Blue Nation will want to hear.

“10 years ago we said we would be a player’s first program,” Calipari said. “Defined by integrity and purpose, we built this program to serve our players, to help them reach their dreams.

“In the last 10 years, we’ve won a national title. We won more games than any other team, including in single seasons winning 38 (games) two different times. We’ve been to more Final Fours than any program. We’ve won more NCAA Tournament games, we’ve appeared in more Elite Eights, more Sweet 16s than any other school.”
