The Kentucky Wildcats and Alabama Crimson Tide will face off in the SEC opener for both teams.
It’s no secret that Kentucky had a pretty difficult non-conference schedule, which included teams such as, Duke, Seton Hall, North Carolina, and Louisville. Well, with the non-conference schedule coming to a close with a convincing win over a good Louisville team, on their home court for that matter, Kentucky now looks ahead to their first SEC conference game which comes against an 8-3 Alabama team down in Tuscaloosa at 1 pm EST on ESPN.
Alabama is currently on a three-game winning streak, and if it weren’t for a couple of close losses to UCF and Georgia State, they could have easily been on an eight-game winning streak heading into the UK game. The Crimson Tide are 5-1 at home and are only averaging around 68.8 points per game at the moment, but at home, it’s 78.3 points per game.
One player to watch for is Alabama’s freshman guard, Kira Lewis Jr., who is averaging 15 ppg along with 3.1 assists a game. He is shooting an outstanding 40.4% from beyond the three-point line. Alabama as a whole is a pretty decent three-point shooting team, as they are shooting a combined 33.8% from three-point range.
This will be another good test for the Wildcats on the road, but it’s a game they need to win, as the SEC slate is going to be brutal this year, so games like this are ones Kentucky can’t afford to lose if they want to get a high seed in the NCAA Tournament.
