Anthony Davis is one of the premier players in the NBA but he’s not on one of the premier teams. The New Orleans Pelicans haven’t been a contender since AD was first drafted there and he’s had to deal with a revolving cast of characters as his teammates.
There’s no stability in the franchise and the team is obviously treading water so Davis let the Pelicans know that he has no intentions of signing a new contract and he wants out of the Big Easy.
Here is the statement from his agent, Rich Paul: “Anthony wants to be traded to a team that allows him a chance to win consistently and compete for a championship,” Paul told ESPN. “Anthony wanted to be honest and clear with his intentions and that’s the reason for informing them of this decision now. That’s in the best interests of both Anthony’s and the organization’s future.”
There have been rumors of Lebron James pushing the Lakers to sign AD which would definitely give LBJ a roster to compete with the Warriors for a championship. In fact I will be shocked if AD ends up anywhere other than LA.
