Happy Saturday Big Blue Nation! The biggest game of the year (for now) happens this evening at 6:00 PM as the Kansas Jayhawks come to Rupp Arena to face the Kentucky Wildcats in the Big 12/SEC Showdown.
Bill Self has won three straight against the Cats and some payback is definitely due. While Kentucky is on a five game winning streak, Kansas has been a little less consistent in league play.
A win today would stretch the streak to six and secure another win for Kentucky’s growing and impressive NCAA resume.

So, if Josh Harrellson is on the “Human” team, who exactly is he matching up against for his games in Japan? pic.twitter.com/kDqN3kM2iw

Jorts vs. MechaGodzilla
With 11:16 remaining IU has yet to make a field goal. Trail Michigan 17-2.
— Kendrick HaskinsWave (@KendrickHaskins) January 26, 2019
The final score was Michigan Wolverines 69 (nice), Indiana Hoosiers 46. Well, IU fans will always have this:
Crazy thing is that if Rick Pitino had not been fired, Romeo Langford is probably a Louisville Cardinal. I’m fine with the way everything turned out.
The Pac-12 can't be a nationally relevant conference unless its top brands are nationally relevant. Arizona and UCLA play for the first time this season in LA tonight and it feels like a secret.

PAC 12 teams should forfeit any NCAA Tournament seeds they get to deserving mid-majors.
Quickies
Jay Williams would have hated to have gone against Ashton Hagans | Lexington Herald Leader- This is high praise from one of the best players to ever have played at Duke: “As a point guard, one of the things I hated was as soon as I turned around, there was a guy in my face,” the ESPN analyst said. “I had to work to get the ball up the court. All of a sudden, I’m starting my offense from half-court because my back is turned toward you.
“There’s a world of difference if I can face you up and get to the three-point line, in operating territory. And Ashton doesn’t allow you to do that.”
Cats staying focused during the hype | UK Athletics- This is a huge game but the Cats have bigger goals ahead of them and this is just one more step in the process to them. I hope that’s how they play tonight.
Picks for Cats vs. Jayhawks | CBS- Kentucky is a six point favorite over Kansas but three out of the five “experts” over at CBS like the Jayhawks. Gary Parrish has been down on the Cats all season so it’s so surprise which team he picked.
ESPN experts pick SEC/Big 12 winners, like the Cats | ESPN- The folks over at ESPN are heavy on Kentucky but they feel the match-ups overall favor the Big 12. The Big 12 has been a clown show all season but...sure.
Kentucky vs Kansas by the numbers | Sporting News- This game means a lot to both teams but Kentucky will have more opportunities for get quality NET wins with showdowns vs. LSU and Tennessee than Kansas will in the Big 12.
Ranking the SEC/Big 12 Challenge games | 247- Obviously UK vs. KU is at the top of the list. Iowa State at Ole Miss and Alabama at Baylor round out the top three.
Kentucky preview | Rock Chalk Talk- The folks over at Rock Chalk Talk are concerned with Keldon Johnson, Reid Travis, and PJ Washington. With their short bench in the post, those are the guys I would be worried about as well.
IU gets embarrassed at home | WDRB- Archie Miller is the latest IU Hoops savior that is falling flat on his face. They’re terrible. It’s weird because they’re having the season we thought UofL would be having while UofL is having the season we thought IU would be having.
IU wasting it’s one season with Romeo Langford | SB Nation- Ya don’t say.
Catch me after tonight’s big game as I host the UK Postgame Show on ESPN 680! Jason Ence will be in Lexington and he will give you the first opportunity to hear John Calipari after the game.
