Bill Self says Kentucky can win it all

Self shared some strong praise for the Cats.

This Kentucky Basketball team is slowly becoming one of the best comeback stories of the season.

To start the year, they were obliterated by a Duke team that was primed for the spotlight seeing as they had the top 3 incoming freshman of 2018. It was an embarrassing loss, but it was only the first game of the season. Which means, there was plenty of time to make up for it.

Well, this team has, and in a big way. They’ve now won eight of their last nine games, along with winning five straight. The BBN aren’t the only ones taking notice either, Bill Self had some encouraging words about Kentucky in his Thursday press conference.

“They’re playing well. They were really good the last 10-12 minutes against Mississippi State the other night. They’re good. They’re big. They’ve got enough fouls to give that they should never have to play shorthanded up front. Hagans is developing into a premiere guard, maybe as good a defensive guard. And Herro and Keldon Johnson are having terrific years and on a roll right now.”

The Cats are in the midst of doing something special. If they knock off Kansas, that would be their 3rd straight win against a ranked opponent.

“They’re good. They’re a team that can win a national championship. I know everybody thought that before the season, and then you have one game where the tension shifts. And they’ve done it the right way. They’ve grinded their way back to be where they are right now and that’s being one of the best teams in the country.”

After that blowout loss to Duke, and a few hiccups against some below-average teams, a lot of people started to count the Cats out. As we’ve seen, that isn’t the case anymore. This team is full of talent and they’re gelling at just the right time.

Sound familiar?

It should, because this is what Calipari does every single year.

It’s shaping up to be a really fun one in Rupp on Saturday!
