The Kentucky Wildcats continue to rack up weekly SEC awards.

This time, it was freshman guard Tyler Herro, who was named this week’s SEC Freshman of the Week.

Herro earned this week’s award after averaging a team-high 16 points, five rebounds and four assists in road wins at Georgia and at No. 14 Auburn, That win over the Tigers was Kentucky’s first road victory over an AP top-15 team in the SEC since March 1, 2006.

That win at Auburn was also Herro’s best game of the season, as he scored 15 of his 20 points in the second half as the Tigers nearly rallied for the win, but Herro hit big shot after big shot to keep Kentucky ahead.

Then when Auburn finally took the lead in the final minute, Herro got fouled and hit the game-winning free throws with under 30 seconds left.

The award is the second of the season for Herro and the SEC-leading sixth time a Wildcat has been named the league’s top-performing freshman. Johnson and Hagans have each won it twice as well.
