Kentucky cheerleading wins 24th national title

The 24-time champs reside in Lexington.

Once again, the University of Kentucky has claimed the NCAA Cheerleading National Championship.

That is 24 titles for the Kentucky cheer team all time, and they’ve all come since 1985. It’s also the school’s fourth-straight title under head coach Jomo Thompson.

As if there was any doubt who has the best cheer team in sports.

The 2019 UCA & UDA College Cheerleading and Dance Team National Championship in Orlando ran from Friday through Sunday. The Kentucky Dance Team placed sixth nationally in the Hip-Hop competition, fifth in Game Day competition and 12 in Pom Pom.

The cheerleaders and dance team will be honored Saturday during the men’s basketball game vs. the Kansas Jayhawks.

Congrats to everyone on their incredible accomplishments.
