Going on the road and winning in the SEC is never an easy task when you’re Kentucky, which makes Kentucky’s victory in Athens last night that much more meaningful.
Time and time again, we’ve seen that when Kentucky comes to town, it brings a new level of competitiveness to surface with the home team and the game ends up much closer than expected or Kentucky gets upset.
Despite an off night from Keldon Johnson, who did not score, the Wildcats picked up the victory behind a strong effort from Ashton Hagans (23 points, 4 assists, 3 steals) returning back to his home state and strong supporting efforts from Nick Richards, who led the team in rebounding (7, tied with Tyler Herro) and also played strong defense, blocking three shots.
Overall, anytime Kentucky can pick up a road win in conference, it’s a solid victory. Georgia isn’t a top team in the SEC and probably not an NCAA Tournament team, but road wins can’t be taken for granted.

I'll say this for Kentucky: Theyre 3-1 in the SEC with basically two guys (Ashton Hagans, Nick Richards) playing to their potential. Defense is much better. If they can just get 1-2 guys going offensively (Herro/Keldon Johnson) look out. Cats are RIGHT on the cusp of breaking out— Aaron Torres (@Aaron_Torres) January 16, 2019
Where would this team be without Ashton Hagans?
