It’s official: Eddie Gran is staying with Kentucky Football!
It has been a wild day for all of Kentucky sports as earlier in the day, rumors leaked that Eddie Gran was being considered for the vacant Georgia OC job.
Over the past couple of seasons a lot of fans have questioned Eddie Gran’s methods. People have felt like the under-utilization of guys like CJ Conrad or Lynn Bowden along with the offensive ranking being in the 100’s that Gran wasn’t doing the best job. Well, when a team like Georgia calls and inquires about your services, you’re doing something right.
Yes, Gran has had some questionable play calling, but you can’t deny the impact he’s had during his first couple years at Kentucky. He helped Benny Snell become the all-time rushing leader in Kentucky Football history and was a big part in getting this team to 10+ wins.
Beyond that, it really seems like this coaching staff has become one unit. While Georgia is a phenomenal job by all means, Kentucky is building something special, and in order to do that you need coaches to be bought in, and that’s exactly what Eddie Gran is!
Here are some of the tweets from media, players and coaches before and after Eddie Gran turned down the Georgia job:
Yahtzee!
I’m all in, #BBN! Let’s do this !

Some reasons to feel good about Eddie Gran not going to Georgia:
— Hey Kentucky! (@hey_kentucky) January 10, 2019
•Won 10 games last year
•He must think the offense is fine going forward post Benny
•GEORGIA COULD NOT POACH HIM
•QB is an important spot, hard to say no to Jake Fromm. Safe to say he believes in our guys.
Kentucky Football has come a long way for it to be able to keep its Offensive Coordinator with an offer for the same job at Georgia

Says a lot about rise of the program
And if Georgia people say tonight Gran wasn’t offered, they are wrong. He was
Pretty significant for Kentucky to fend off a national title contender with a good QB and loaded backfield and keep its OC. https://t.co/9gzCMOyWmg

One thing I will take from today is Gran has a lot more popular support at Kentucky when people are hearing he is a candidate elsewhere than he is on Saturdays in the fall.
