UPDATE
He’s staying. Boom!
It looks like there’s a real chance Kentucky Wildcats offensive coordinator Eddie Gran won’t be in Lexington next season.
According to KSR, Gran has been offered the job of offensive coordinator for the Georgia Bulldogs.
A source tells KSR that UK Offensive Coordinator Eddie Gran was offered the position of Offensive Coordinator at Georgia under Kirby Smart in the last 24 hours. Smart has offered Gran total control of the Offense and a salary of at least $1.1 million.
That would be a pay raise of about $160,000 from what he makes at Kentucky. It’s hard to imagine he’d turn down that kind of offer and the chance to coach at a national title-contending program like Georgia, so Mark Stoops and UK are going to have to open the checkbook if they want to keep him.
Gran has done a lot of good things at UK, but his units have finished in the 100s in total offense over the last two years. However, Gran’s 2016 unit did finish 61st in total offense and 58th in scoring offense.
Gran also helped orchestrate this masterpiece:
If I had to guess, right now, I would say Gran stays and UK gives him that same pay rise, if not slightly more than that. Gran and Stoops are good friends and have accomplished a lot together at UK, and I would guess he wants to stay and attempt to keep taking this program to new heights.
Do you think Gran will stay at UK? Sound off in the comments section.
