The Kentucky Wildcats made the final cut for Ohio defensive tackle Isaiah Gibson.
Gibson made his announcement public today via Twitter, when he narrowed his choices to UK, the Wisconsin Badgers, and the Purdue Boilermakers.
All of Big Blue Nation knows the success that Mark Stoops has had with his pipeline to the Buckeye State. Currently, UK has such stars as Benny Snell, Jordan Jones, Dorian Baker, Lynn Bowden, and C.J. Conrad who’ve come to UK from the Bluegrass State’s neighbor to the north.
Gibson is 3-star defensive lineman according to 247Sports.com, and at 6’4”, 298-pounds, he may eventually fit in nicely as defensive tackle or even a nose guard depending on how he fills out.

The Minnesota Golden Gophers, Michigan State Spartans, Florida Gators, and Georgia Bulldogs were also among the schools recruiting the senior from Springfield High School. Gibson has since removed them from consideration.
The Crystal Ball Projections currently have Wisconsin as the leader in the clubhouse to land Gibson, but according to the experts, Kentucky still has a chance to bring the big fella to Lexington. Vince Marrow has been very convincing of late, and has helped to sway some young men who were on the fence into signing with Big Blue.
Gibson is set to announce his commitment in two weeks. Stoops’ calling card has always been defense, and in the SEC the more big bodies you can put up front to stop the opposing offense, the better your chances are.
The Cats do have a man on the inside. Moses Douglass, son of Gibson’s coach Moe Douglass, has already committed to Kentucky. Kordell Looney, currently a sophomore on the defensive line for the Cats, is also a former teammate of Gibson’s, so that has to be a big plus.
We’ll see what happens on September 19th.
