The Kentucky Wildcats have finally done it. On Saturday night on Ginaville, the Wildcats beat the Florida Gators, 27-16.
Sophomore quarterback Terry Wilson accounted for three touchdowns, junior running back Benny Snell ran for 175 yards, and the Wildcats beat the Gators for the first time since 1986. Kentucky also hadn’t won in Gainesville since 1979.
This was Kentucky’s first win over a ranked opponent since winning at No. 11 Louisville in 2016, as well as their first win over a ranked SEC opponent since No. 25 Missouri in 2015. This was UK’s first road win over a ranked SEC opponent since 1998 at No. 21 LSU.
As great as those were, this win ended a 31-game losing streak to Florida, which was one of the most painful streaks any team had ever endured, regardless of sport.
Now, it’s dead and gone.
Now, Big Blue Nation can celebrate a win over Florida.
