Fall practice is underway across the nation, as the new college basketball season is drawing closer.
For the Kentucky Wildcats, this is shaping up to be another special year in Lexington, as Kentucky sports the preseason No. 1 team in many major polls.
But a ranking is merely just a number at this time of the year. It means nothing in the long run if the team holding it can’t win big and win often.
It’s early, but this Kentucky team looks ready to do just that.
After a promising four-game showing in the Bahamas, the Wildcats have been hard at work this offseason to prepare for the new season. This week, the team posted several practice highlights, which only will add to the excitement and anticipation for next season.

Defense has been the early theme in practice so far, and for good reason. This team has the perfect balance of athleticism, strength, depth and intensity to be an elite defensive team by the time March Madness rolls around.
.@UKCoachCalipari approves of the defense. Yes, we’re already working on defense. If you know Coach’s early-season approach, that’s a good sign. pic.twitter.com/LgAS66Ta3t

Was told last week that it's been a whole lot of defense in the early fall practices. Also told that this team is light years ahead of last season's at this stage. Lot of excitement over at the Craft Center these days. https://t.co/q5mnZTNDAC

PJ Washington is also trying to put his teammates on posters before he does so to opponents this coming season:

The best part of these early practice highlights has been seeing Jemarl Baker healthy and happy to be back on the court with his teammates:
.@jemarlbakerjr is back on the court, healthy and playing well. He recaps our second day of practice. We are back this afternoon for a weekend of two-a-days. pic.twitter.com/JL3zvJbZaz

While the Wildcats were busy working this week, they took a break to hang out with fans during the Big Blue Madness campout:
The point of the #BBM18 campout may be to get tickets to Big Blue Madness, but for the #BBN, it's just as much about these moments to get to meet the players, like @H23Ash, up close. Hope #TentCity enjoyed hanging with the guys tonight. We know we had fun meeting the fans. pic.twitter.com/lxAin875aN
