UK visits Jalen Green and N’Faly Dante, set to visit Dawson Garcia

Kentucky is hard at work on the recruiting trail.

The recruiting trail never sleeps.

While the 2019 class is far from complete, John Calipari and co. are hard at work on the 2020 class. So far this week, they’re set to meet with three recruits from 2020, including a new name.

The big name is Jalen Green, arguably the best player in his class. Kentucky saw Green on Monday, according to Rivals’ Corey Evans.

Ranked second overall by 247 Sports Composite, Green is a 6-5, 170-pound shooting guard from San Joaquin Memorial in Fresno (CA). His highest ranking is No. 1 overall by Rivals. He currently holds offers from the Memphis Tigers, UCLA Bruins, Oregon Ducks, Arizona Wildcats and Villanova Wildcats among others.

Memphis has an early crystal ball prediction from Andrew Slater. Kentucky hasn’t had much success recruiting out west, but never sleep on Calipari with an elite recruit.

Kentucky also met with five-star center N’Faly Dante on Monday, according to Andrew Slater. The big man scored an offer from Kentucky this summer while competing at the Nike EYBL.

Initially, LSU looked like the favorite in this recruitment with a host of crystal ball picks that included Evan Daniels.

However, Kentucky has since received two straight picks, so perhaps the Cats are in better shape than given credit for.

Hailing from Wichita (KS), Dante currently plays for Sunrise Christian Academy. He is one of a few select players in 2020 who hold a Kentucky offer, including five-star wing Scottie Barnes.

Dante is ranked as high as No. 5 overall by Rivals. ESPN has him ranked 13th, while 247 Spots ranks him 15th.

Two of the three services have the 6-11, 235-pound Dante ranked as the best center in 2020. He currently holds scholarship offers from the Kansas Jayhawks, LSU Tigers and Oklahoma State Cowboys among many others.

Elsewhere, Ryan James with PrepHoops.com reports that Kentucky is set to visit the school of 2020 forward Dawson Garcia.

The 6’10” forward from Prior Lake in Minnesota is rising up the recruiting rankings after his play on the AAU spring and summer circuits, leading his D1 Minnesota team with 22 points per game.

Garcia is a lefty and was described by Eric Bossi at Rivals.com as “a modern big man who can shoot with range, put the ball on the floor and run for days in transition.”

As he has been trending upward in the class, more schools have become interested. Garcia currently holds offers from twelve schools, including the Texas Longhorns, Baylor Bears, Kansas Jayhawks, Butler Bulldogs, and the Indiana Hoosiers, among others. The Wildcats are joining that mix as well.

It is obviously early in Garcia’s recruitment, but the junior forward has a lot of skills and is only beginning to scratch the surface of his potential. He will be one to watch as his recruitment begins to pick up in the next year.
