Brandin Echols picks Kentucky Football

A big get for Kentucky Football.

The Kentucky Wildcats have picked up their second football pledge after Saturday’s massive win over Mississippi State.

Late Saturday night, three-star quarterback Amani Gilmore announced his commitment to Kentucky while on his official visit.

Then on Sunday afternoon, JUCO defensive back Brandin Echols announced his pledge to the Wildcats:

Kentucky actually dipped into Mississippi to land Echols, who plays at Northwest Mississippi C.C. He’s ranked 44th nationally among JUCO prospects in the Class of 2019. He holds offers from the Ole Miss Rebels, Memphis Tigers, Houston Cougars and Minnesota Golden Gophers among others.

The 6-0, 180-pound Echols has primarily played at cornerback, where Kentucky is going to lose their top three players to graduation next year. This is a big pickup for the Cats, who are set to lose defensive backs Derrick Baity, Chris Westry, Mike Edwards, Lonnie Johnson and Darius West to graduation, so they need as much help in the secondary as they can get.

Kentucky hasn’t had much success recruiting in the state of Mississippi, but you can bet Saturday’s domination of the Bulldogs will leave a lasting impression on recruits in the state that routinely produces a good amount of SEC talent.
