South Carolina Gamecocks vs Kentucky Wildcats: TV channel, initial odds and early predictions

For the third time this year, Kentucky will be an underdog. Gotta keep earning that respect.

Jason Marcum - Sea of Blue

The Kentucky Wildcats will be back at Kroger Field to host the South Carolina Gamecocks in Week 4.

South Carolina is coming off a dominating performance this week on the road beating Vanderbilt 37-14. The same Vanderbilt team that gave #8 ranked Notre Dame all they wanted two weeks ago in South Bend.

The Gamecocks are 2-1 on the season with the lone loss coming to Georgia on 9/8. South Carolina has only played 3 games so far due to Hurricane Florence prompting the cancellation of their game against Marshall on 9/15.

Tussling with legitimate Heisman candidate, Benny Snell, the Gamecocks are going have their hands full. The Westgate Las Vegas changed Snell’s Heisman odds from 300-1 to 200-1 after his monster game against the Bulldogs. But if he keeps playing like this and the Cats keep winning, it will be impossible to keep his name out of the Heisman conversation.

Snell’s legendary four-touchdown performance against Mississippi State proved that he is an elite running back that really can run against anybody, just as he self proclaimed in the some trash talk prior to the game.

If I were Will Muschamp, I would be telling my players that mentioning Benny Snell’s name this week would result in immediate disciplinary action. There is no doubt that the Cats game plan for Saturday and here on out will be to ride Snell and the running game for as long as it takes.

Kroger Field is going to be bizerk on Saturday when Kentucky will play their first game as a ranked team in the Mark Stoops era. The Big Blue Nation needs to make this a complete sell-out and support this team.

South Carolina Gamecocks (2-1) at Kentucky Wildcats (4-0)

Location: Kroger Field Lexington, Kentucky

Start Time: 7:30 PM Eastern/6:30 Central on Sept 29, 2018

TV Channel: SEC Network

Odds: South Carolina opened as a 2-point favorite. Yes, you read that correctly, but game lines tend to shift around 1.5-3 points during the week, so Kentucky may be the favorite when kickoff arrives.

Making this even more disrespectful is that ESPN thinks South Carolina has the slight edge on the road:

Kentucky just has to keep proving doubters wrong.

Early Prediction: Kentucky is riding high and in the friendly confines of what should be a rocking Kroger Field, but somehow are still getting disrespected by oddsmakers, so the Cats come fired up and come away with a 27-20 win.
