The Kentucky Wildcats have announced more game times and TV designations for the 2018-19 basketball schedule.
As is the case with SEC teams, most of Kentucky’s schedule can be seen on ESPN networks, including ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU and the SEC Network. The latter is what Kentucky will be heavily featured on for the first month, as 11 different events will be broadcast on the SEC Network between Big Blue Madness and Dec. 1 game vs. UNC Greensboro.
The only big game on the schedule without a home is against the Louisville Cardinals. It’s still TBA for Saturday, Dec. 29. All of the other games will be on primo TV networks, including the North Carolina Tar Heels (CBS), Duke Blue Devils (ESPN), Kansas Jayhawks (ESPN or ESPN2), Auburn Tigers (CBS) and at home vs. the Florida Gators (CBS).
As of now, every regular-season game Kentucky will play in this season will be on national television. That even includes Kentucky’s pro day, exhibition games, Big Blue Madness, and the Blue-White Scrimmage, all of which will also air on national television.
There’s no other program in America that gets as much national airtime as Kentucky Basketball, and that won’t be changing anytime soon.
The only complaint one can really find is the number of 9 pm EST games on Tuesday Kentucky will have this year in SEC play, as usual. Kentucky will have four of those along with an 8:30 PM matchup with the Vanderbilt Commodores on a Saturday, Jan. 12.
In all, seven of Kentucky’s 13 nonconference opponents in the upcoming season made a postseason tournament in 2018, five of which made the NCAA Tournament. Combined with the league schedule, the Wildcats will face 16 teams that played in the postseason in 2018, including 12 in the NCAA Tournament.
If you need more proof this schedule is loaded, Kentucky will have seven games against teams in the top 15 of the best odds to win it all next season. There’s a great case to be made that this is the most challenging schedule of the John Calipari era.
