Kentucky offers Oscar Tshiebwe

Kentucky expands its big man recruiting efforts with an offer for this big-time center.

John Calipari is continuing his recruiting efforts with five-star big man Oscar Tshiebwe, and has offered him a scholarship, according to Corey Evans of Rivals. Tshiebwe has now announced the offer on his Twitter page:

Tshiebwe, a 6-9 center, is the No. 22 player and No. 8 center in the class of 2019 on the 247 Sports Composite. He’s from Hermitage, Pennsylvania, and is currently playing his high school basketball at Kennedy Catholic.

This will likely cause a shakeup in Tshiebwe’s recruitment, as the 2019 big man has 10 predictions logged in his crystal ball, all for West Virginia. That’s now likely to change, especially with the big man set to visit Kentucky next weekend.

Rivals recruiting analyst Corey Evans previous said he thinks Kentucky will be the pick if they offer Tshiebwe. Ever since then, the buzz for Kentucky has been growing, and it hasn’t slowed down with his visit upcoming.

Tshiebwe has 14 other offers, including another SEC offer from Ole Miss. He also has an offer from another blue blood in Kansas. Even so, WVU is viewed as the biggest challenger here, but Kentucky is making a strong push.

Tshiebwe has a game that’s comparable to Julius Randle. He’s not exceedingly tall for a center, but he’s got a good frame to play down low and he uses it well. He can also finish with authority at the rim and play great post defense. He even locked down James Wiseman in a matchup during the summer AAU circuit, which really helped put him on John Calipari’s radar.
