Kentucky Wildcats vs. Mississippi State Bulldogs: TV channel, early odds and a prediction

The Bulldogs are going to present a huge challenge in this clash of undefeated SEC teams at Kroger Field.

Jason Marcum - Sea of Blue

Kentucky will host the Mississippi State Bulldogs at Kroger Field in primetime this Saturday in what is sure to be one of the biggest games of the Mark Stoops era.

The matchup will be shown on ESPN2 at 7:00 pm and will have the attention of college football fans around the country. Both teams will enter the game undefeated at 3-0.

The Bulldogs are coming off another impressive victory, they dominated Louisiana-Lafayette 56-10 at home on Saturday and will arrive in Lexington as a top 15 team in the country. They’re ranked No. 14 in both the AP and Coaches Top 25 Poll.

Even though this game will take place at Kroger Field with a rocking Kentucky crowd, the Bulldogs are going to be a significant favorite, as oddsmakers currently have they favored by 10.5 points.

Kentucky has actually not lost by double digits at home in 13 of their last 14 games, so beating these Cats handily is something that rarely happens in Kroger Field. Kentucky was also a double-digit underdog at Florida but ended up beating the Gators by 11 points.

After that historic win in Gainesville, this clash with Mississippi State will be the next chance for Kentucky to score a program-boosting win. It also begins what I believe to be the most pivotal three-game stretch of the entire season with Mississippi State at home, South Carolina at home, then a huge showdown in College Station against Texas A&M.

If UK can find a way to win two of those three, then this season has the fuel to become really special. But Kentucky will have to take it one game at a time, and it starts on Saturday night with the Bulldogs.

Mississippi St. Bulldogs (3-0) at Kentucky Wildcats (3-0)

Location: Kroger Field Lexington, Kentucky

Start Time: 7:00 PM Eastern/6:00 Central on Sept 22, 2018

TV Station: EPSN2

Odds: Mississippi State opened as a 10.5-point favorite. Kentucky is 1-2 against the spread so far this season, but they’re 1-0 ATS when playing a ranked team.

As of 10 am Sunday morning ESPN’s matchup predictor has Mississippi State Favored rather heavily

My prediction: It is going to be a tall task to slow this Mississippi State team down but I think Kentucky has the pieces to do it. The home crowd is sure to be fired up and I believe that will ultimately give UK the edge in a very close game.

Final Score: Kentucky 35, Mississippi State 31
