Aidan Igiehon plans official visit to UK, talks message from John Calipari

Calipari met with Igiehon, and now a visit to Kentucky is planned.

Four-star center Aidan Igiehon is making a trip to Kentucky.

The 6-10 big man has planned an official visit following his in-home meeting with John Calipari and Tony Barbee, according to Adam Zagoria, though no date is set yet.

The visit announcement comes not long after he cut his list to four in Kentucky, Louisville, Oregon and St. John’s.

Igiehon claims to have an offer from Kentucky, but other reports have disputed that, and there hasn’t yet been confirmation.

Igiehon did talk about how Calipari is pitching him to Kentucky, so while there may not be a committable offer, the interest is very real.

“He asked me what was my “WHY.” I’ve always told myself that my reason why has to be greater than myself. We were both on the same page on that aspect. Cal then asked what was my overall goal with this game. And my response was to be in the Hall of Fame, to be one of the best to ever play.

“Cal wants a guy that can compete, a guy that is obsessed with the game of basketball, which I honestly I believe if you aren’t obsessed with the game then we speak a different language.”

Kentucky and Louisville are the favorites despite the fact that it was revealed not long ago that Kentucky wasn’t showing interest in Igiehon. If he does have an offer from the Cats, that’s obviously not the case.

It’s possible that Calipari began trying to expand his efforts in recruiting big men in the event that he misses on No. 1 recruit James Wiseman. We’ve seen increased interest between Kentucky and Oscar Tshiebwe and Zeke Nnaji. That’s not even account for Kentucky already being in heavy pursuit of Vernon Carey and Matthew Hurt.

Calipari is making it clear he wants multiple bigs in this class, and Igiehon is firmly on his radar.
