Kentucky Football: Benny Snell battling illness

Snell is fighting through an illness as the new season begins.

NCAA Football: South Carolina at Kentucky Mark Zerof-USA TODAY Sports

The Central Michigan Chippewas will be without three starters for today’s game.

Second leading tackler and LB Alex Briones, TE Logan Hessbrook, and team captain and WR Devon Spalding are all out and did not make the trip to Lexington today.

Also, it has been reported by KSR’s Drew Franklin that Benny Snell was sick this morning and missed the pregame meal. His status is unknown, but according to Franklin we may see a heavy dose of AJ Rose and Sihiem King.

Those two are fully capable of carrying the workload, but it would still be a big loss for the Cats, not to mention a bad way for Snell to begin what may be his final season in Lexington.

You’d also like to see new quarterback Terry Wilson have his best weapon in the backfield next to him today.

Not an ideal way to start the season, but stay tuned. Go Cats!

Update: Benny seems to be feeling better.
