Yesterday was Fan Day for Kentucky football and the team held an open practice. The players were in their shorts and helmets so there isn’t a ton you can glean from what happened but we will do our best here to do just that.
There was definitely an air of experience on the field that hasn’t been there since Mark Stoops has been the coach. This is his most veteran team with returning starters all over the field.
Gunnar Hoak and Terry Wilson split snaps as starters in both 7 on 7 and 11 on 11 drills. There was no indication of which guy has the edge and I doubt seriously that we will have an answer to the quarterback question any time soon.
Benny Snell was the main attraction for the media and fans. Rightfully so. The junior running back is the best and most important player on the team. He has a chance to break even more Kentucky rushing records this season.
And if the star align correctly, maybe he could even be a Heisman candidate.

Quickies
Fan Day practice observations | Courier-Journal- It seems like the tight ends, CJ Conrad and Justin Rigg, are going to be a big part of that the Cats want to do offensively. Both players need to have big seasons.
More observations | Cats Pause- One thing that stood out to me here is the fact that not many freshmen got reps yesterday. Again it goes to show how much experience Stoops is working with. In the past he had to rely on freshmen at key positions.
UK off to a good start in first two practices | UK Athletics- Mark Stoops has been very pleased with his team thus far. There’s a little rust but nothing substantial. The team will go helmets, shoulderpads, and shorts today so the intensity is going to pick up.
An open letter to Kentucky football fans | Saturdays Down South- The author pens a tongue-in-cheek letter about how this could be the year that the Cat go 8-4/9-3 but history says it won’t happen.
Chane Behanan arrested | WDRB- And the hits just keep on coming for the 2013 Louisville Cardinals title team. The former Card was in a car with marijuana and stolen guns. Behanan was sitting next to an AK-47 and had weed residue on his lap. I’m honestly shocked this arrest didn’t happen sooner based on what I’ve heard about him.
T.O. gives HOF speech at alma mater | ESPN- Terrell Owens skipped the Hall of Fame ceremonies last night to protest the fact that he wasn’t a first ballot inductee. He held his own ceremony at The University of Tennessee Chattanooga and gave a 40 minute speech in which he claimed he was ostracized by the NFL.
Best moments in Canton | Yahoo!- I didn’t watch the HOF inductees last night. I opted for Avengers: Infinity War. If you skipped it like I did, here is a good breakdown of what happened last night.

Also of note: Ray Lewis’ bust looked nothing like him.
Who do they pay to make these? If you gave me 10 guesses, 0 chance I’d land on Ray Lewis. pic.twitter.com/OOQL2phG0t
