UK Basketball Recruiting: Oscar Tshiebwe announces final 4 and sets visit to Kentucky

The surging 5-star center appears to be on the verge of a UK offer.

John Calipari’s recruitment of one of 2019’s most physical players continues to heat up.

Five-star center Oscar Tshiebwe has trimmed his list to four, and the Kentucky Wildcats made the cut. In In addition, Jake Weingarten reports that Tshiebwe will visit Kentucky on the weekend of Step. 28:

The 2019 big man is 6-9, 230 pounds, and is ranked the No. 12 center in the class by the 247 Sports Composite ratings.

This visit could be the time for Tshiebwe to get his scholarship offer. John Calipari and his staff have shown interest in Tshiebwe, and we’ve heard that an offer is likely to come his way, but it hasn’t happened yet.

West Virginia is currently the favorite to land Tshiebwe. The Mountaineers hold all 10 predictions in his crystal ball right now. He also has 14 total offers, which includes an offer from SEC foe Ole Miss.

Kentucky doesn’t have any commitments from big men in the 2019 class yet. The Wildcats are of course working on James Wiseman, but he and Tshiebwe have different skill sets. Tshiebwe has a lot of athleticism for his size, and he’s a very intense dunker. His size and skill set remind me a little bit of Julius Randle.

While competing at the Adidas Summer Championships in California, Tshiebwe dominated Wiseman, which helped spark Calipari’s interest.

Evan Daniels went as far as to call Tshiebwe one of the top recruits in the month of July:

So, if we are close to a sway in Kentucky’s favor in Tshiebwe’s recruitment, it likely won’t have any negative impact on the Wildcats’ relationship with Wiseman.
