This is the last Saturday without SEC football until winter time. The Kentucky Wildcats will be set to take on the Central Michigan Chippewas next Saturday at 3:30 PM at Kroger Field.

The game day atmosphere at Kroger Field has been criticized in the past. Many fans are upset with the changes made to their season ticket packages and that frustration is coming through. There are still 20,000 or so tickets available for next Saturday’s game.

UK, to their credit, is trying to make the experience at Kroger Field a better one in hopes that fans will once again start coming out to games.

Hopefully we won’t be staring at empty seats for kickoff.

Tweets of the Day

Benny Snell, Jr. gets the highlight treatment from the SEC Network. And well deserved.

Quickies

Kentucky basketball finalizes schedule | Cats Illustrated- The basketball schedule is as loaded as it has been since John Calipari took the job. The Cats play three blue bloods and will face top 25 talent outside and inside of the conference.

Ranking Kentucky’s basketball games | Courier-Journal- Ranking these games is a tough job because they are all so good. But Louisville is way too high. That team is going to be a dumpster fire.

Rupp Arena one of the best home environments | Cats Pause- Rupp Arena comes in at number five on the list of best environments in college basketball. Outside of Duke and Kansas, the teams that are ahead of Kentucky are extremely questionable. Gonzaga at number three? Give me a break.

Kentucky high school football scores | WDRB- The big story here is that nationally ranked Trinity High School is 0-2 for the first time since 2014. The Rocks lost to another out of state powerhouse. While they are slipping, Male is on the rise.

UK soccer opens season with win | UK Athletics- With a 1-0 victory over Depaul, the UK Men’s soccer team opens the season in style with a win. That’s four years in a row that the team has opened the season with a win.

UK volleyball falls to 0-2 | UK Athletics- The fifth ranked team lost 3-1 to #10 USC. They lost earlier in the week to #13 Creighton in five sets. Not the start the ladies were looking for.

Candid coaches series discusses new recruiting rules | CBS- The coaches are not pleased with the recruiting rules changes enforced by the NCAA. They think it’s worse for both coaches and players.

Hawaii and Colorado State opens college football tonight | CBS- If you want an early hit for your college football fix then look no further than the CBS Sports Network tonight at 7:30. Hawaii is starting to make it a tradition to start the college football season off a week earlier and we cannot be happier about that.

Urban Meyer apologizes to Courtney Smith in letter | ESPN- This could be filed under “Too little too late”. After a series of lies, half truths, and poorly worded statements, the Ohio State Buckeyes coach finally makes a statement that makes him seem like he is at least partially sorry. He’s full of it and I hope they lose every game.

Predicting every college bowl game and the Playoffs | The Sporting News- The Cats make the cut with a game against Kansas State in the Liberty Bowl on New Years Eve. As tough as the schedule is, I’ll take it.

IU suspends top running back indefinitely | CBS- The Hoosiers will probably be pretty terrible this season and the latest news isn’t helping. Morgan Ellison was the leading rusher and IU isn’t specifying what he did.

Guardians of the Galaxy production on hold | Variety- The third installment of the highly popular Marvel space adventure has been in turmoil ever since director James Gunn was fired over a series of disturbing tweets. A group of crew members were let go and there has been no explanation given.
