The Kentucky Wildcats have finished off the 2018-19 schedule for the upcoming college basketball season.
From beginning to end, this will prove to be one of, if not the most difficult state of games than any team in the country will endure. It includes 10 games against teams in the ESPN way-too-early top 25 poll, including the following:
- No. 2 Kansas Jayhawks
- No. 3 Duke Blue Devils
- No. 5 Tennessee Volunteers (twice)
- No. 8 North Carolina Tar Heels
- No. 11 Auburn Tigers (twice)
- No. 21 LSU Tigers
- No. 22 Mississippi State Bulldogs (twice)
Teams like Florida and Missouri have also gotten some preseason top-25 buzz.
Kentucky will have 14 games against teams that finished in the top 50 of KenPom’s rankings last season, including 11 in the top 30.
Sure, we can only know so much about these teams before they actually play a regular-season game, but teams like Tennessee and Auburn return the majority of their teams, while Duke certainly looks like a legit Final Four contender with the amount of talent they have.
Needless to say, this is going to be a monster slate of games for the Cats, who happen to be No. 1 in most preseason polls. That ranking will certainly be put to the test, but if the Bahamas trip is any indicator, this team is ready for the journey ahead.
Bring it on.
