Lynn Bowden was one of the most exciting lands by Mark Stoops and the staff.
While he had to adjust to playing wide receiver full time and had to improve on his route running he still made people excited about what he can be.
During this past season, the freshman showed that he will bring a certain dynamic to the field that will go a long way in helping this program win ballgames. Bowden has the ability to go out and make a catch as a WR and also can lineup as the QB and take a snap out of the wildcat.
Luckily, when he is in the wildcat he is a threat to run the ball but defenses can’t stack the box against him because he can also us his arm to pass the ball down field.

Bowden has often been compared to former Wildcat and fan favorite Randall Cobb. Also, both have the same abilities on offense. During his career we saw Cobb in at WR and we saw him at QB a lot. Bowden (like Cobb) has the potential to be massive for the Cats in their offensive attack. The staff will just have to find what he is capable of and use that to their advantage.
Last season Bowden caught 17 passes for 210 yards and while he failed to reach the end zone, we have to believe that will change relatively quick once the season starts. Bowden also averaged 23.5 yards per kick return and came very close to breaking some for a TD including a 93-yard return against Vanderbilt.
The amount of potential that Bowden has is through the roof. Now that he has a season under his belt and has had the entire offseason to work on the aspects of his game that he struggled with a year ago.
The offseason is when players can make the biggest jump in their game and a sophomore Bowden can be a scary sight for their opponents this season. We should be expecting to see a huge season from the WR.
If there is one thing I learned this past season from watching Bowden it would be, Get Him The Ball. When he gets the ball you have to watch because something spectacular could be about to happen.
The only thing that could hinder his productivity this season as a WR is the quarterback play. After two seasons of Stephen Johnson at the helm we will now have to see a new person taking the snaps and that will affect how big of a breakout season Lynn is able to have.
We saw Stephen struggle in the passing game at times but if Stoops is able to get a QB out there capable of making the passes then Bowden will have a big year.
How big of a season do you think Lynn will have?
Here is a video of Lynn in high school and what we hope to see a lot of in his sophomore season.
