Kentucky misses the cut for Nico Mannion

After recently being connected to Mannion’s recruitment, Kentucky is left off his final four.

Nico Mannion is a 5-star point guard recruit from the Class of 2019 that Kentucky had recently reportedly been in the mix for.

The high-flying 6’2” guard has been one of the biggest risers during the summer basketball season, even cracking the top-20 in ESPN’s high school recruiting rankings. He is also ranked the No. 17 player in the Class of 2019 by 247 Sports.

Unfortunately, he will not be playing his college ball at Kentucky.

Mannion posted his final four schools on his Instagram page, and those are Duke, Villanova, Arizona, and Marquette.

The relationship between Kentucky and Mannion appears to be as short lived as it gets. Mere days ago Mannion’s AAU coach said “The ball’s in their (Kentucky’s) court,” per 24/7 Sports.

The Phoenix native previously said that Arizona, Duke and Villanova were near-locks to make his final list. Arizona is the favorite to land in his crystal ball, with 13 predictions logged thus far.

Kentucky remains in good positioning for several other recruits in the 2019 class and still has the full-fledge commitment of point guard Tyrese Maxey. They’ve also offered Jalen Lecque and are in the mix for Cole Anthony, not to mention RJ Hampton may reclassify into 2019.
